Description: Arai introduces GP-6 RC; the new racing carbon fibre helmet
In June 2004 the FIA World Motorsport Council introduced a new approval standard (FIA 8860), which became obligatory in the Formula 1 class. At that time Arai introduced the newly developed GP-5 RC helmet, made from carbon fibre, that found widespread use among F1 drivers.
For 2009, the number of car racing disciplines in which the use of FIA 8860 approved helmets is obligatory will be expanded with the following racing classes (under FIA rules):
1. GP-2
2. GP-2 Asia
3. F3 Euro series
4. F3 UK
5. WTCC (World Touring Car Championship)
6. F2 UK
